1978 Airstream Excella 500 30'
Looking to sell by the end of this month to the best offer
We rebuilt, travelled, and lived in this trailer for a year. After our travels, we used it as a summer cabin for three seasons. Towed home and stored in our back driveway in the winters. Well cared for and functional, tows well. We just purchased a mountain house and no longer need the camper.
Rehab history: photos available upon request
- gutted in 2019: floors and frame good
- upgraded inverter/battery system
- upgraded propane tanks to modern valves
- new overflow / vent hose amp; waterfill and hose
- new pex plumbing throughout
- replaced forced air heat system with catalytic heater
- new Dometic fridge/freezer and stove/oven
- LED lighting
- AC runs cold
- original propane water heater and pump fully functional
- vintage character preserved including original curtains, radio upgraded to bluetooth, doorbell
Issues to note:
- drivers side awning missing a latch, but otherwise functional
- passenger side awning has a torn seam that needs to be sewn
- drawer latches were removed when using as a stationary cabin. Should be replaced if using for regular towing
- two missing window locks within although each window has at least one functioning lock
- battery has a slow drain, so I just flip the breaker when not in use
- exterior: has never been polished or painted, so generally aged with patches of clearcoat. Alclad exterior can be polished to shine
