Description: SILVER STREAK TRAVEL TRAILER
1983 Model 3411 Supreme
6,800-lbs with 8,000-lb GVWR
(800-1,000-lb tongue weight)
Clear Texas title
FOR SALE

Purchased in May 2007 for a higher price than this, many thousands spent in the interval on upgrades/repairs as we full-timed for seven months.

Exterior is good, interior is possibly the best you'll see. Trailer is believed to have been in Texas (north of Houston) since new. Appliances are new since 2001 or working beautifully. This was a low-use trailer.

I have over $20,000 in this trailer, but our new house will require my full attention for the next three or more years, and I am unwilling to let this trailer sit. Has been in covered storage with electric. Now back at our home in Corpus Christi. A dehumidifier is on constant duty, and trailer has no odors or mustiness. Ready to roll after wheel bearing re-pack/brake inspection.

These trailers changed very little from about 1965 to 1987 and this is reflected in many positive ways: no replacement of axles, no frame separation; no filiform corrosion, etc, that bedevils Airstreams. Both brands have their advantages. But, one will spend less on a Silver Streak as the decades pass.

Tows beautifully with HD half ton (or Suburban) or larger; I average 13-15 mpg with my diesel pickup at 63 mph.

Some initial measurements:

Total INTERIOR floor length, front to rear: 31'

Maximum floor width (seen in living area) is 7.5'

Open flooring:
From front, port side, interior floor: 8' to kitchen cabinetry (living area)
From front, starboard side, interior floor: 15' to refrigerator
From front, to exterior door: 6.5'

So, living area is 8' x 7.5' (60 s/f including door entry area)

Dining area: 6.5'; floor is total 5.5' across to kitchen cabinetry (36' s/f )
(from front, along starboard side, total open is: 15')

Total available floor space ahead of bedroom is nearly 100 s/f for your furniture design.

There are two OEM folding tables installed as per original floor plan: One, at the dining area that accommodates two chairs; and the second, larger, mounted along the port forward wall that serves the couch and 2 or 3 folding chairs (Leg-O-Matic).

The coach EXTERIOR length is: 32' approximately
The A-frame/Hensley and rear bumper adds five feet for a total just under 37'

The best Airstream-similar shot I have found is

http://www.airforums.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=47939&d=1193181013

for the floorplan. The setup is "exact" as to port/starboard placement. (The difference is that the stove/oven/microwave is at the rear of the counter). The placement of couches shown here is what we were going to have built (sleeper, etc), and the starboard wall would have a flat-panel TV under the window on a 6.5' shallow cabinet with room for books, shoe rack, etc. We would likely not build a dinette, but keep two leather lounge-style chairs with the oem table (or, maybe not, if I decided I wanted a dedicated place for pet-related storage, etc.)
