Airstream Bambi Lovers! Extremely Rare 1952 Silverstreak Clipper

Attention Vintage Airstream Lovers! Meet “Betty”…Original “rocketeer” style towing trailer dating back to 1952 with extremely rare, unique, wrap around windows (alien eyes) in BOTH front and back! This is a unique opportunity for you to be the proud new owner of one of the rarest and most sought after vintage trailers in existence.
This particular model was made in 1952, 22 feet in length, single axel (cheap towing through tolls) and one of the lightest trailers to tow ever made to date (weighing under 1500 pounds… in fact, the old advertisements showed a bicyclist towing it on a country road!). There are very few of these models that remain documented in existence in the country. With the rising popularity of these trailers, many are sought and purchased by collectors throughout the world and shipped to China, Europe, etc… She is in great condition and is not at all shy about her age! This rare trailer was designed by Wally Byam, before Airstream re-started after WWII. They are some of the most sought after trailers in history!
Betty has been the focal point of various photo shoots, including a 5 page spread in a magazine, wedding photos and modeling shoots. We have been the owners of this beautiful vintage RV since 2008; most of these models no longer exist (and the ones that do are rarely in this condition), but because she spent most of her life in Globe, Arizona until we became the new owners, she has seen little harsh weather…and it shows! Most trailers you see of this age have been gutted, painted on the inside, or are completely stripped. Not Betty! This one is ready to set off for an adventure! She comes completely furnished with all custom decorator pillows and accent pieces, many collectables that we obtained over years specifically for her; cabinets and drawers are stocked! Just hang your clothes in the closet and take off!
Because this trailer is so rare and eye catching, we have to forewarn the new owners that people LOVE this trailer… anywhere you drive her or park… expect to have a group of admirers and make a LOT of new friends along the way…even if you are just pulled over to pump gas…people will gather with admiration! Aside from the fact that she is a vintage piece of true Americana, unlike most other RV’s, Betty actually goes up in value each year as she becomes even more rare as she ages gracefully. She is a great investment and has ENDLESS uses! Travel around anywhere with her, light to tow, unhitch her and you have the freedom of your car where you land. Take her to the seawall and cook breakfast, camp across the country, bring her to friend’s homes and you have your own, private suite… extra guest house, office, pool cabana, bar for a party, craft fairs, parades, small business, concert weekends, tailgating parties, cigar lounge, poker den… the list goes on and on!!! If you calculate the price of a hotel in peak season in the cape for a week vs. the cost to take Betty to a campground in the cape, you will see she is an investment that pays herself off quickly! Not to mention, as my husband states, you will officially have the coolest “sled” in town!

Interior Specs:
Very rare front kitchen, 2 couches in back with underneath storage open into large, very comfortable bed which has been completely upholstered as well as couch in front of camper to match (note: that couch can also open to sleep a 3rd person). Two closets on opposite sides divide sitting area/sleeping area from front of trailer. Tons of storage space. Black and white retro checkerboard flooring, aluminum interior reflects red accent pieces and lights and literally illuminates. All original wood cabinetry in good condition for her age. Original LP gas stove and 110 Volt Refrigerator ( that can still operate as original icebox fridge if desired!!!) both working. Have original heater we have never even opened or used (that will be included in sale) which connects to cute chimney to the right of the door. All custom lined curtains for privacy glow red when lights are on from outside. Drainboard and all 110 volt lights work. Some of the amazing retro decorator accents included with the sale of trailer include beautiful decorator satin, velvet and fabric pillows, luxury blankets, retro artwork embelishments (Velcro used to adhere so as to not damage any woodwork), framed vintage advertisement of trailer from 50’s, fun period kitchenware items, books, battery operated lanterns, camping gear and many other items…. Too many to name!!! Bring her to the lake or the ocean and you have the coolest property in town! Sleep in a rainstorm and the sound will lull you to sleep of the rain hitting the aluminum.
Exterior:
The body itself has been newly polished, of course blemishes on a trailer this age, however, no significant dents which is rare for a trailer that is an antique like her. She has the highly coveted double door (have the option of having door closed or separating door so just screen door is open). She has a 7 gallon aluminum propane tank that meets the latest safety requirement. The tongue and bumper are newly painted and tongue jack works well. Tire rims just painted and polished…All four original beehive glass marker lights still present. Sink hooks up to water line and you have running water.

We LOVE Betty and want to see her go to a new, loving home… she is ready for her next adventurous owner… she is a magnet for meeting people and truly has been like a family member. There is nothing wrong with her, we just had two very young children back to back and our lifestyle has changed a bit to say the least and we aren't able to use her as much as we previously did. Happy to answer any and all questions we can!
