1994 Excella 28 Twin layout
We are sad to part with her, she was our first Airstream (we bought it used), but we succumbed to aluminitis and have accumulated too many Airstreams. The trailer has been stored in a heated and air conditioned workshop for the last 5 years whenever we were not traveling in it.

This is a very comfortable trailer for extended traveling, with solar panels, AGM batteries and 16” Michelin tires. We have really enjoyed it and have done a lot of boondocking (camping without hookups).
Our last trip with it was in November 2015, all systems worked well.

It is an Excella 28 with a rear bedroom twin layout, and measures 29' bumper to hitch ball. It has large tanks: 50 gal fresh, 35 gal black, 30 gal grey. Three large outside compartments, plus underbed storage and large closets which give a lot of storage in and out of the trailer.

We have made many upgrades in addition to normal maintenance:
Upgraded electrical system in 2015 for more boondocking--added 200W AMSolar solar panels with Blue Sky controller, new fuse panel, 2 Lifeline AGM batteries, and Magnum 3000 watt Hybrid inverter charger.
Added USB charger outlets and additional 12V charger outlet.
Added stainless steel corner segment protector stone guards on front
Upgraded wheels and tires in 2011 to 16" Michelin LTX and aluminum wheels, including spare tire in underside carrier
Converted interior lighting to LED bulbs.
Replaced LP Furnace and thermostat with new Atwood LP furnace and new thermostat in 2015
Added 2 bicycle fork mounts for carrying 2 bikes protected inside trailer
New entry door lock, and entry door seal in 2016
We also added a front panel structural reinforcement attachment plate (similar to those used on vintage trailers) while we had the area open during the electrical upgrades, just as a preventive measure.
Replaced brake assemblies on all 4 wheels

Interior: The living area is roomy with a gaucho sofa with storage drawer below and two foldout tables. There is an open area next to the microwave where a freestanding swivel rocker was originally. We added bicycle fork anchors so that we can carry 2 bikes mounted vertically inside the trailer and still have full use of the kitchen, tables and sofa. The front wheels are removed and lay on the floor or sofa while traveling, tuck next to the rear bike wheels or hang by the windows while parked. The area could also be used for a comfy chair, dog kennel or storing other outdoor gear.
The center walk through bath has 2 large cedar lined closets and is between the bedroom and the kitchen area; the sliding doors on both ends can be closed creating a large private bath and dressing area including the closets. Glass-doored shower enclosure.
The bedroom has the original twin layout, with original bedspreads. When we traveled, we converted the layout to a king bed size by adding a platform between the twins, and turned the mattresses sideways and used king memory foam topper and sheets on it. This still allowed standing space in the bedroom and storage at the foot of the bed and we added small drawer units between the mattress and the bath wall for more storage.
An advantage of the twin bed layout is three exterior storage areas in the rear of the trailer, plus more storage under the beds inside. Original storage bins are in the underbed storage areas.
Kitchen has twin sinks, Dometic 7 cuft 2door fridge with separate freezer section. Convection microwave oven, 3 burner stovetop. Pullout pantry storage, plus drawers and overhead cabinets for plenty of kitchen storage.
Original aluminum blinds and curtains on all windows. Carpet throughout, original carpeting was replaced before we purchased it with basic homestore carpeting. Like many other Excella trailers, the headliner fabric in the living area has drooped and we added curved strips to retain it.
Fantastic Fan with rain sensor over bed, basic vent fan over living area.
Dometic 13000 BTU air conditioner with heat strip. Water heater is LP, 6gal.

Exterior: 3 storage compartments in rear, ZipDee patio awning and full length street side window awning. There are some worn spots in the awning, but no tears. Two 30# LP cylinders with original aluminum cover.
Clearcoat is peeling on upper curbside and front. There is a small crease in the RH rear lower panel.
Battery boxes have been sealed after the Lifeline batteries were installed and do not open.
Electric hookup cable stows on original slideout/dropdown tray in bellypan.
8200lbs GVWR

Other:
The complete original owners manual with detailed circuit and layout diagrams (much more info than current owners manuals) is included.
An Equalizer brand load distribution hitch is available if desired, as well as other miscellaneous RV accessories, including a Winegard Carryout Dish Network receiver, never used.
