1987 Airstream 345 motorhome ground up restoration ready for final build (the hard-expensive work has been done).
Few Airstream motorhomes have ever received this level of restoration.
When we purchased this motorhome, we enjoyed it as was (all original) for about half a year. Then when we started to do a refurb, we discovered the common problems of older motorhomes (floor rot around windows, poor insulation, frame rust). At that time, we took a step back and instead of doing the common stuff like painting, updating appliances, new flooring, curtains, etc., we completely gutted the motorhome.
All cabinets, walls, subfloor, insulation, everything was removed. The frame was sandblasted, treated with a rust prohibitor in silver color, new subfloor was installed, new insulation (none of the batten-style, we opted for rigid foam cut to form tight seals with all wiring and panels). The wiring was replaced/upgraded and the coach was brought from 30 amp to 50 amp. New monitoring system for water, tanks, electric. A 4 camera, 360 degree view driving assistance and security monitoring system was hard wired (all of this was done by professionals-master certified).
We purchased and installed all new aluminum skins on the inside. All windows were removed, cleaned, seals, gaskets, and other components replaced. A tinting company came onsite and tinted all windows silver (usually airstreams get a black tint, but silver makes the windows reflect like the aluminum).
All lights converted to LED. All exterior drawers replaced with custom fabricated new aluminum compartments. The a new compartment was fabricated to house 4 house batteries and a swappable propane tank (propane is only for the hot water heater, everything else is electric). All seals were removed, cleaned, and redone. New electric step. New tires. New hoses. New airbags. new compressor. New horn. Horn is crazy and symbolizes the no expense spared nature of this restoration. The airhorn is the second loudest train horn manufactured and runs off of 2 compressors and an 8 gallon tank that keeps the airbags regulated, runs air tools, and the horn. A custom switch was installed so that in the off position, pressing the steering wheel horn triggers the regular electric horn; however in the on position, pressing the steering wheel horn button fires the air horns (truly over the top, but will help keep you safe on the road). The same fabricator that did the new compartment bays also made an aluminum dashboard and glove box overlay (beautiful).
All new Zip Dee awnings and Fabric.
I am happy to talk with serious potential buyers over the phone (970)-222-9977.
We are sad to have to sell this before we finish it. It is ready for the flooring to be installed (we have high end vinyl planks already purchased). We also have the fridge/freezer, microwave, Nature’s Head, all still in their boxes (all high end and included with purchase should you want them).
The foundation work has already been done for a truly over the top, unique motorhome. You can take over and decide on your own layout and style. You will, have not only a unique motorhome, but most importantly, one that spared no expense on the important but not so glamorous work.
